Silicone Sealants

Silicone sealants are versatile materials composed mainly of silicone polymers, known for their flexibility, strong adhesion to diverse surfaces, and resistance to environmental conditions.

Silicone Sealant Product Range

Silicone sealants are commonly used to create durable and waterproof seals in joints, gaps, and seams. With excellent temperature resistance, mould resistance, and easy application, silicone sealants find wide-ranging applications in construction, automotive, plumbing, and general repairs.

Choosing the right silicone sealant depends on the specific requirements of your project. Different silicone sealants are formulated for various purposes. Review our product range below to find the type of silicone sealant that you require.

Which Silicone Sealants are Best?

The best silicone sealants for weather-sealing are the Neutral Cure Low Modulus products such as Arbosil 1096S and Arbosil XL1099S. For sanitary use e.g. bathrooms, silicone sealants that contain fungicide such as Arbosil HM are best.

General Purpose Silicone Sealant

The general purpose silicone sealant is ideal for a variety of sealing uses and contains fungicide.

Silicone Sealant for Natural Stone

Arbosil XL 1099S is recommended for sealing joints made from natural stone.

It is a one part low modulus neutral cure silicone sealant, specifically designed for joint sealing against marble, granite and other sensitive natural or manmade substrates where other sealants may cause staining.

Silicone Sealant for movement joints in brickwork and concrete panels

Arbosil 1090 is another one part low modulus neutral cure silicone sealant with good adhesion to concrete, brickwork, metals and many other common construction substrates.

Silicone Sealants for Roofing Sheets and Glazing

Silicone sealants for roofing are specialised formulations designed to provide effective sealing and protection in the demanding conditions of roofing applications.

These sealants are composed primarily of silicone polymers, which impart essential characteristics such as flexibility, weather resistance, and durability.

One of the key features of silicone sealants for roofing is their exceptional ability to withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight and extreme weather conditions, making them ideal for outdoor applications.

This UV resistance ensures that the sealant maintains its integrity over time, contributing to the longevity of the roof.

Flexibility is another critical aspect of silicone sealants for roofing. These sealants exhibit a high degree of flexibility, allowing them to accommodate the natural movements of roofing materials caused by temperature fluctuations and structural settling.

This flexibility helps prevent cracks and gaps from forming, ensuring a tight and lasting seal.

Adhesion to various roofing materials, including asphalt shingles, metal, concrete, and roofing membranes, is a crucial factor in providing a secure and reliable bond.

Arbosil LMS

Arbosil LMS is a one part neutral cure low modulus silicone sealant which cures on exposure to moisture vapour to form an elastic silicone rubber. It’s ideal for joints in translucent roofing sheets, perimeter sealing PVCU frames; remedial glazing and glazing double glazed units.

Arbosil 1096

Arbosil 1096 is a one part low modulus neutral cure silicone sealant best used for glass wall assemblies, curtain wall and polyester powder coated frame perimeter seals.

It is also used for window perimeter sealing in swimming pool halls.

Arbo Lead Seal S

Arbo Lead Seal S is a one part high quality low modulus neutral cure silicone sealant, supplied in a handy 310ml cartridge.

It is fully compatible with lead and approved by the Lead Contractors Association.

Arbosil HDLMS

Arbosil HDLMS is a higher viscosity alternative one part neutral cure low modulus silicone sealant, with improved tooling properties, and reduced full cure time.

Waterproof Silicone Sealants

The majority of silicone sealants are inherently waterproof. Silicone sealants are designed to create a water-resistant and watertight seal when applied to various surfaces.

The silicone polymer, the primary component of silicone sealants, repels water and prevents moisture from penetrating the sealed area.

This waterproofing property makes silicone sealants suitable for a wide range of applications, including sealing joints in bathrooms, kitchens, and windows, as well as for outdoor use on roofs and other exterior surfaces.

Silicone's resistance to water, flexibility, and durability contribute to its effectiveness in preventing leaks and providing long-term waterproofing solutions.

Arbosil HM

Arbosil HM is a one-part acetoxy cure silicone sealant, which cures rapidly on exposure to moisture vapour to form a resilient elastic silicone rubber.

It contains a fungicide to help reduce mould growth.

Arbosil 1081 White and Black

Arbosil 1081 White and Black contain a fungicide to help reduce mould growth when used in kitchens, bathrooms and other sanitary applications.

Arbosil 1081 Translucent

The Arbosil 1081 Translucent variant does not contain a fungicide and is therefore recommended for use in the production of all glass aquaria.

Fire-Resistant Silicone Sealants

Silicone sealants are known for their heat resistance. Silicone, the primary component in these sealants, is a high-temperature-resistant material. Silicone sealants can withstand a broad range of temperatures, making them suitable for applications where heat resistance is crucial.

Typically, standard silicone sealants can resist temperatures ranging from -40°C to 200°C (-40°F to 392°F) or even higher, depending on the specific formulation. Some specialised silicone sealants are designed to handle even more extreme temperatures.

This heat resistance makes silicone sealants suitable for various applications, including sealing around stovetops, ovens, and other areas exposed to heat in kitchens. Additionally, they are commonly used in industrial settings, such as in manufacturing processes or sealing joints in machinery where higher temperatures may be encountered.

Arbosil 1070, 1071, 1075, AR 240 Fire Rated Foam

We have a range of fire resisting products including; Arbosil 1070, 1071, Arbo XL1075, and Arbo® AR 240 Fire Rated Foam.

Arbosil 1081 Translucent

The Arbosil 1081 Translucent variant does not contain a fungicide and is therefore recommended for use in the production of all glass aquaria.

Silicone Sealants FAQs

Silicone sealants are used for a wide variety of joint sealant applications; in most cases to form a flexible weather-seal: e.g. window perimeter sealing; movement joints in external cladding.
The main advantages of silicone sealants are the long service life (in excess of 25 years) and high flexibility.
Silicone sealant’s life expectancy is in excess of 25 years, subject to specific use of product and service conditions.
