Silicone Sealants
Silicone sealants are high-performance materials used in construction, glazing, and sanitary applications. They offer flexible, durable, and long-lasting protection on glass, metal, masonry, plastics, and other substrates. ARBO® provides a comprehensive range of silicone sealants, including structural, non-staining, and specialist sanitary solutions.
ARBO® Silicone Sealants Range
ARBO® silicone sealants provide reliable sealing solutions for a wide range of applications. They are suitable for bathrooms, lead flashing, glazing systems, and large construction joints.
These silicone sealants are commonly used to waterproof sinks, showers, bathtubs, and backsplashes in kitchens and bathrooms. In high-humidity environments, a sanitary silicone sealant or HM sealant is often required to prevent mould growth and maintain hygiene.
Our range includes products for:
Sanitary sealing
Lead work and flashings
Curtain walling
PVCu frame perimeter sealing
Glass-to-glass joints
Concrete and masonry joints
Sensitive natural stone substrates
Structural glazing systems
Weatherseal applications
ARBO® also offers dedicated structural silicone sealants for façade and structural glazing systems. They may be specified alongside compatible preformed sealants to create a complete joint sealing system. In addition, these sealants are used in manufacturing sectors such as electronics, appliances, and automotive applications.

Key Features of Silicone Sealants
Our structural silicone sealants and sanitary silicone sealant systems are designed to provide:
Excellent movement capability for expansion joints and façade systems
Strong adhesion to porous substrates and non-porous surfaces
UV and weathering-resistant performance
Excellent resistance to moisture, cleaning agents, and temperature changes
Long service life once fully cured
Reliable performance in high-humidity environments
Compatibility with glass, metals and construction materials
Cure times vary by product and site conditions. Refer to the individual product datasheet for full curing information. Once cured, the cured silicone sealant remains flexible and durable for long-term performance.
Application Process
Correct installation is essential for structural silicone sealant and sanitary silicone sealant systems.
Joint Preparation
Use correct joint dimensions
Install backing materials where required
Avoid three-sided adhesion
Use compatible backing rods or preformed sealants when specified
Appropriate backing materials, such as closed-cell or open-cell backer rods may be used where specified. Always confirm compatibility with ARBO Technical Services.
Application Gunning
Apply the silicone sealant using professional application gunning equipment:
Cut the nozzle to the correct bead size
Apply steady, even pressure
Ensure full contact with both sides of the joint
Tool the sealant immediately before skin formation to create a smooth finish.

Sanitary Uses
ARBOSIL 1081 and ARBOSIL HM are ideal for bathrooms and kitchens. These sanitary silicone sealant and HM sealant products provide mould resistance and reliable sealing in high humidity conditions.
Sensitive Substrates
ARBOSIL XL1099 S is a non staining silicone sealant that helps prevent staining on marble, granite, and precast concrete.
Lead Work
ARBO Lead Seal S offers solvent-free, flexible sealing for lead flashings
Construction & Glazing
For curtain walling, expansion joints, roofing, and perimeter sealing, choose ARBOSIL 1090, HDLMS, or 1096 S, depending on movement and substrate requirements.
ARBO® structural silicone sealants are specifically designed for structural glazing applications where system compatibility is critical to long-term durability and performance. In these systems, every element, including the sealant, secondary sealant, gaskets, and substrates, must be compatible to prevent fluid migration, which can affect the mechanical properties and adhesion of structural sealants and lead to discolouration or failure of the insulated glass unit.
Using non-approved gaskets or incompatible materials can result in the disintegration of the insulated glass unit due to fluid or plasticiser migration. Closed-cell PE or open-cell backer rods are compatible with structural glazing applications.
If unsure, contact our technical team for expert specification guidance.
Why Choose ARBO® Silicone Sealants?
High movement capability
Long-term durability
Excellent UV and weather resistance
Wide substrate compatibility
Neutral and acetoxy cure options
Many ARBO silicone sealants comply with relevant standards such as BS EN ISO 11600 and BS 5889. Refer to individual product datasheets for specific classifications.
Suitable for commercial and residential projects
Suitable for structural and weatherseal applications. Many products offer excellent adhesion to common construction materials such as glass and aluminium; however, primer requirements should be confirmed via product datasheets or testing.
Brilliant White Silirub N is a general-purpose, low-modulus, neutral-cure silicone sealant with very fast skinning and final cure.
Compliance and Standards
Many ARBO sealants comply with relevant British Standards (BS EN ISO 11600, BS 5889) and offer additional assurances for use in construction. If you need a silicone sealant that complies with specific standards, speak to our team and they can suggest the best product for you.
