Main Applications of ARBO® MIRROR ADHESIVE
Recommended for bonding mirrors to plastered or tiled walls in many common internal construction areas.
Note: ARBO Mirror Adhesive is not appropriate for use with plastic type safety backed mirrors; please contact ARBO Technical Services for further advice.
Not appropriate for bonding mirrors to very friable surfaces.
Fast curing, non-mechanical fixing
Application Instructions
Substrate preparation
The surfaces of the mirror and wall must be clean, dry and free from all contamination. The surfaces should be degreased using the appropriate ARBO Cleaner.
ARBO Primer 2650 may be required on some porous substrates. It is recommended that ARBO Technical Services should be consulted, and advice obtained regarding the choice of primer for specific purposes.
Application
ARBO Mirror Adhesive is supplied in 310ml cartridges and is applied using an ARBO Caulking Gun. Apply in 6mm beads approximately 150mm apart to one substrate only. To assist in the curing of the product and for bedding of larger mirrors leave breaks of approximately 50mm at 500mm centres in the beads of sealant.
Mirrors with a surface area less than 1m² will require temporary support whilst the adhesive achieves full cure. Mirrors with a surface area greater than 1m² will require permanent support along the bottom edge of the mirror.
When installing mirrors in areas subject to high humidity the back and edges of the mirror should be covered in aluminium foil. To minimise the risk of chemical contamination from the wall finish affecting the mirror backing and to prevent moisture build up it is recommended that an air gap of at least 3mm is left between the back of the mirror and the wall.
NB: Do not apply at temperatures below 5o C and where Relative Humidity is below 40 %.
