Which ARBO Polyurethane Sealant is Right for Me?

Choosing the right ARBO polyurethane sealants is a vital part of your project. The list below will provide you with a selection of the best polyurethane sealants that are suitable for your project. If you can’t find the right sealant, get in touch with a member of our team and they can help you find the right sealant for you.

Ideal for Sealing Floor Joints in Concrete
Arbothane 1245 is formulated to seal floor joints in concrete. This provides a durable, flexible seal that can withstand heavy loads and moderate movement in industrial settings.

It adheres well to concrete and other common construction materials. However, experts do not recommend it for natural stone; you cannot paint over it. Due to this, it is best suited for environments where aesthetics are secondary to function.

High-Traffic Interior and Exterior Floor Joints
Arbothane 1245SL is a self-leveling polyurethane sealant, perfect for sealing joints in floors and walkways exposed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Examples of this include warehouses, garages, and factory floors.

Its self-levelling property makes it especially suited to horizontal surfaces, simplifying application over large floor areas. Contact our team today to find the best one.

Why Choose ARBO Polyurethane Sealants

Polyurethane sealants are primarily used to seal and protect joints in construction, particularly in high-movement and high-traffic areas like floors, walkways, and structural joints, due to their flexibility, durability, and strong adhesion. Below are some of the key points drawn from the specific ARBO products.

Durable and Flexible Bond for High-Movement Joints
The Arbothane 1245 and 1245SL polyurethane sealants create a strong, flexible rubber bond when they cure. This makes them perfect for uses that need durability during movement.

The sealants’ flexibility allows for up to 35% movement in butt joints and up to 70% in lap joints. This makes them ideal for areas that often expand, contract, or experience vibration.

Suitable for Interior and Exterior Applications
ARBO’s polyurethane sealants work well indoors and outdoors. They are great for joints on floors and walkways.

They also perform well in busy areas like warehouses, garages, and factory floors. They’re designed to withstand pedestrian and vehicle traffic, ensuring long-lasting performance in demanding conditions.

Excellent Adhesion to Multiple Substrates
Arbothane 1245 sealants adhere strongly to concrete and other construction materials. For porous substrates, such as concrete, applying ARBO AG2 Porous Primer enhances adhesion. Their chemical composition provides moderate resistance to dilute acids and alkalis, making them versatile for a range of applications.

Weather and UV Resistance for Longevity
ARBO polyurethane sealants offer very good resistance to UV exposure. This allows long-lasting use in environments exposed to sunlight. With a service temperature range from -40°C to +110°C, they maintain performance in diverse weather conditions supporting a service life of over 15 years.

Easy Application Process

  • Joint Preparation: Surfaces should be even, clean, and free from contaminants. Use ARBO Cleaner No. 17 or No. 16 for degreasing and consult ARBO Technical Services regarding primers if needed.

  • Joint Sizing: For optimal results, adhere to joint width and depth ratios; for instance, 6mm to 25mm width and up to 20mm depth on non-porous substrates.

  • Self-Levelling Option: Arbothane 1245SL offers a self-levelling variant, making it ideal for horizontal joints, which simplifies application in large areas.

Safe, Long-Lasting Storage
Both Arbothane 1245 and 1245SL are supplied in 600ml foil packs and have a storage life of 12 months in unopened packaging if stored in cool, dry conditions away from sunlight.

Compliance and Standards

All joint preparation, priming, and sealant application should be carried out in accordance with BS 8000 - 16: 1997 + A1: 2010 the British Standard for the sealing of joints in buildings using sealants. If you need a polyurethane sealant that complies with specific standards, speak to our team and they can suggest the best product for you.
